The difference with Scola

Small, family-run and independent
Higher teacher to student ratio
Child safety is our highest priority

Our philosophy

Our philosophy is based upon the sociocultural theories of development. Inspiration for our curriculum has been drawn from famous developmental psychologists and best practices in early education programmes from around the world. These are implemented by our dedicated, considerate, and attentive educators who are motivated by the successes of the children they work with.

Our educators

At Scola Early Learning, children are observed and guided closely by our experienced and knowledgeable staff members. The information they gain from observation of the child, and collaborating with parents regarding home-life, is used to identify the child’s interests, concerns and skills so that our team can provide the highest standard of early years education.

Our evidence-based techniques are used as a means of developing an assortment of skills, such as memory, organisation and planning, attention and focus switching. An empathetic and considerate approach is employed as a means of developing the child’s emotional intelligence, and play and experimentation are important tools used in developing a child’s imagination, their social skills and their physical and mental wellbeing.

The facility

Scola Early Learning is not a typical childcare service — it’s a purpose-built, professional education and care environment designed to help young children thrive.

Each day, children engage in hands-on, play-based learning experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and essential early skills.

Our Melville campus on Marmion Street, next to The Children’s Garden, offers a calm and inspiring setting for families from Melville, Attadale, Palmyra, Hilton, and East Fremantle.

Safety & child protection

“Child safe” isn’t a poster on a wall—it’s a culture. It’s the everyday ways adults listen to children, act on concerns, plan ahead for risks, and treat every child’s dignity as non-negotiable. Australia’s National Principles for Child Safe Organisations give families and services a shared roadmap for doing exactly that.

The Principles grew out of the Royal Commission’s work and provide a consistent, national framework any school, club, church, early learning setting, or community group can use to put children’s safety and wellbeing first.

An adaptive centre, tailored to your child

Supporting children aged 2–5, Scola combines research-informed teaching with play-based learning to help young minds develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Early learning is about more than supervision. It’s about nurturing curiosity, building strong foundations for school, and creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to explore the world around them.

    Got questions?

We’re here to help with any questions you may have or to organise a tour or Scola Early Learning.

    Frequently asked questions

What ages do you cater for at Scola Early Learning?

We provide early learning and care for children aged 2 to 5 years, focusing on the critical preschool and pre-kindergarten years where school readiness and foundational development are most important.

What makes Scola different from other childcare centres?

Scola is a boutique, education-first early learning centre. With small group sizes, a large teaching team, and a focus on whole-child development, we provide a more personalised and intentional learning experience than traditional childcare environments.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day combines structured learning with play-based exploration. Children engage in activities across literacy, numeracy, STEM, creativity, and social development, all guided by educators who extend learning through conversation and interaction.

    7:00 – 8:00

Arrival and sporadic ad hoc play in the main rooms. Parents are greeted by our teachers and given the opportunity to see what we’ve been learning about at school!

    8:00 – 8:30

The outside area is opened and children are encouraged to play in the outdoors. Indoor activities are still available as more workshops begin opening, and children can play games and get involved in artistic work.

    8:30 – 9:00

Our first meeting of the day – the morning meeting! Children get to sit down and discuss the important matters of their life and get a refresher on what we’ve been learnin

    9:30 – 10:30

All team members are present at this time, and all workshops are open. Any current themed projects would likely occur during this timeslot (e.g., if the educators are teaching children about nature and biology through art, this would be practiced here). Morning tea occurs during this timeslot, with programmes still open for children to use when they are not eating.

    10:30 – 11:15

Learning activities relevant to the programme continue at this time as we approach lunch time.

    11:15 – 12:00

The midday meeting will occur during the first half of an hour of this slot. This allows children and teachers to sit down and read a story, discuss world events, or engage in a calming thematic activity relevant to the current programme. The last 15 minutes are allocated to handwashing and sitting at the tables prepared for lunch.

    12:00 – 12:30

Now, it is finally time to enjoy the delicious meal prepared by our lovely cook!

    12:30 – 2:30

Rest and sleep time (for the children who need sleep). Relaxed activities are set up for children who are not sleeping to engage with.

    2:30 – 4:30

Workshops begin opening again at 2:30pm. Parents will begin collecting their children during this time. Teachers resume their planned experiences and open the ad hoc play experiences too.

    4:30 – 5:30

Workshops will begin closing during this time. One or two workshops will remain open in the outdoor area (which stays open until roughly 5:30). Educators will begin clocking off and most children will have been collected. This time is an opportunity for educators to greet parents and discuss their day to day lives and the development of the child.
Do you follow a structured curriculum?

Yes. Our programs are guided by Australia’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), with a strong focus on school readiness, communication, emotional development, and problem-solving skills.

How do you support school readiness?

We build the key skills children need to confidently transition into school, including early literacy and numeracy, independence, social confidence, emotional regulation, and the ability to follow routines and instructions.

    What is your educator-to-child ratio?

We operate with small group sizes and a large teaching team, ensuring every child receives individual attention and support. This allows us to truly understand each child’s needs, strengths, and personality.

    Are meals provided?

Yes, we provide healthy, freshly prepared meals each day to support your child’s growth, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.

Is Scola approved for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

Yes, Scola Early Learning is CCS approved, helping eligible families reduce the cost of childcare.

How do you ensure my child feels comfortable and settled?

We take the time to get to know every child individually. Our nurturing environment, consistent routines, and strong educator relationships help children feel safe, confident, and excited to attend each day.

Can I book a tour before enrolling?

Absolutely. We encourage families to visit the centre, meet our team, and experience the environment firsthand before making a decision.
